The 530 area code is the second largest dialing code in California, slightly smaller in area than the 760. It covers the North Eastern portion of the state, stretching from the Oregon-California border to Sacramento. The 530 coverage area was created on November 1, 1997 after splitting from the existent 916 area code, which now covers the area immediately surrounding Sacramento. On the Western coast of California, it splits the 707 area code into two separate coverage areas.
The 530 area code provides coverage to the entirety of Modoc, Siskiyou, Lassen, Shasta, Tehama, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Mono, and Alpine Counties. In addition, it provides coverage to parts of Humboldt, Trinity, Yolo, Sutter, and El Dorado Counties.
The 530 area code includes the cities and
towns of Chico, Davis, Grass Valley, Marysville, Oroville, Placerville, Redding,
Susanville, Truckee, Yuba City, Woodland, and Red Bluff.
